On my way to Cape Town

Today I woke up all and left to Cape Town. Instead of going on N2 the guy from the hostel told me to take R62 and I'm so glad I did!!!

The view is AMAZING!!!!!! The route is completely breath taking!!! I'm driving in between mountains and can see snow covered hills! Just amazing!!!!

After a short time on the road I realized that I have been listening to the same playlist for TWO YEARS!!! (Franco de vita, Kany Garcia, & Oreja de VanGogh) so I found myself playing on repeat "my wish" by rascal flats. That song reminds me of the boys so much (i put it in the video i made for them before they left to Hawaii- my favorite part for them: "And while you're out there getting where you're fretting to I hope you know somebody loves you!") and maybe around replay #127 I started sobbing while driving! It reminded me of how hard it was to say goodbye to them with a straight face without just breaking down in tears.

The more I listened to the song and the more I cried the more I realized that the song was also speaking to me. During the past three weeks I have seen so much and have experienced so many things that I can't help but wonder what I should do with my life. I think the song in a way made me cry because I don't have anything to go back "home" to and has made me questioned if staying in the US is really what my heart is telling me to do... A big part of me has been saying "fuck it! Travel the world, go places, live the life you want to live!!!" And a small part of me, the rational Andrea I believe, keeps saying "you have worked so hard, stay, get your license and then travel... AND how about having your own family? Isn't that what you are supposed to be doing?!?" but then the other side of me says "you will be too old then, just do it now!!! AND you are too young to settle down, do you really want a family?!?!" Anyway, so much to think about it and no idea what I really want!

This song is just perfect for what I'm going through, specially "if you're faced with the choice and you have to choose I hope you choose the one that means the most to you" I really hope that the universe sends my way whatever is best for me and whatever would help me helps other and be of service to the people who need it the most!

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you're faced with the choice and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin' til you find the window
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish
I hope you never look back but you never forget
All the ones who love you and the place you left
I hope you always forgive and you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get
Oh, you'd find God's grace in every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything, yeah more than anything
Of course I had to stop and compose myself... I did so at "Ronnie's sex shop!" Jajaja I know it sounds funny but it actually started as a joke! Ronnie wanted to have a fruit and veg shop and painted the "ronnies shop" sign and one night his friends wrote the word "sex" next to it and that's how it became "Ronnie's sex shop!!" And now it is a bar!

And here I am with Ronnie himself :-)

After my breakfast stop I had more than 200km to go. I changed the song to "unwritten" on replay for the next 3 hours (OCD much?!?!) and was singing and dancing my whole way to capetown!!!

Mid way I stopped for tea at a really cute tea shop and the owner asked me where I was from and made me put a pin in El Salvador since I was her first customer ever from there! This reminds me that I do need to get that world map that I've always wanted and pin the countries I've been to... Next on my list when I get back :-)

The drive was more than amazing!!! I actually enjoyed going really fast, passing cars and the thrill of passing a truck with another coming my way! Fun fun fun! I tried not to pass the speed limit since I already got a speeding ticket yesterday. The closer I got to Cape Town the more excited I was to get together with Leslie!

At around 2:30pm I finally arrived in Cape Town and before dinner Leslie and I caught up on our adventures! Then it was dinner time and we went and spent a lovely evening at the waterfront with great company... And super yummy food :-)
