Before I share about my first ever driving experience on the "wrong side" of the road I have to share about my flight from joburg to P.E!

So I sat next to a guy from Nepal and he started asking me questions and saw my ring and asked "are you married?" I was not feeling like having a whole flirty flight conversation with the guy so I said yes! Jajaja and then the lies just kept on getting bigger and bigger. It reminded me so much of Kathy's story about one of her supervisees making up a whole fake marriage, family, and kids for his clients. I told him I left my husband and kids at home and that it was my friend's 40th birthday and we decided to come to South Africa and that they were meeting me at the hotel... Jajaja you should have seen his face when I said my friend was 40! Jajajaja it was priceless and then very scared he asked how old I was, I said "older than I look" and then lied about my age! He proceeded to ask about my kids, and when I got married and when I had my kids! Jajaja it was easy to lie about the kids because I based the lies on Andrew and Ryan but keeping up all the lies and the straight face was pretty hard. Finally small talk was over when he looked at me and said "Do you really like that lifestyle?" Jajaja I had to ask for clarification and proceeded to talk about the wonders of being a housewife! Jajaja it might not sound funny but it really was! I really scared that 21 year old!!!

On the airplane I started to feel anxiety in my stomach... I was about to rent a car and drive on the left side of the road for the first time! I have been scanning street signs, paying attention to turns, and learning my way around on the left for a couple of weeks so I knew I did not need to be scared... I told myself "Andrea, you got this shit down!"

The rental went smoothly and when I got the car I spent maybe 30 mins in the car getting acquainted with it... Mirrors, seats, wipers, lights, gas/trunk buttons, music, air conditioning, set up Tom Tom, call hostel to confirm address etc. I believe a little part of me did not want to leave the parking lot because deep inside I was really scared and then I just kept saying "you've been here 3 weeks, you know it!"
Finally I left the parking lot and the whole time while I was driving I was saying "OMG! This is so cool! You are doing it! So proud of you Andrea!" Jajajajaja and I remembered the day I taught Andrew how to do the sliding monkey bars at the park! I kept saying "you can do it, if you try you will do it!" He repeated "i can do it, i can do it, i can do it" and he did! he was SO proud of himself that when he got to the other side he kept jumping and had the biggest smile on his face!! (I wish everybody could see that video! One of my favorite!!) ... and that's how I felt! I wanted to jump up and down for not being scared and taking "this bull by its horns!" Jeje
