After 2 hours of sleep I was picked up for the tour of the day at 7:45 am!!!

I have done quite a bit of traveling, mostly Europe, and nothing compares to the beauty of nature. Looking at the sand dunes I couldn't help myself but say "this is amazing"... never have I ever been this blown away by nature!

Today I took a tour to Sandwich Harbor and OMG... So glad I did! Everything was perfect!!!
The tour guy was so knowledgeable and passionate about namibia that it was contagious. He showed us birds, desert vegetation, caught a beetle for us to see, made an effort to find animals, anyway I could go and on about how amazing Ernest and the tour were. The other 3 men in the tour were also very very nice and I felt like the company couldn't have been better.

We started the tour by watching flamingos... Hundreds and hundreds of them... Ernest told us all about what they eat, how they get their pigment, their beaks etc it was quite interesting! He has been doing this for ages so he knows pretty much everything about every bird and animal we encountered. We then passed some salt factory and then we drove to sandwich harbor.

It was quite exciting to be offroading right where the sand dunes and the ocean meet. I did take a couple of pictures and videos but for this trip I decided to keep my very simple point and shoot camera and try my best to get a couple of decent shots but to focus on enjoying the trip, being present instead of focusing on how to get a great shot... I want to see it through my eyes and not through the screen of my camera... I need to make memories, not the perfect photo album!

At around noon we had the MOST PERFECT picnic lunch I have ever had... I wasn't expecting anything like it! I don't know why I was super excited about it, I truly thought it was just perfect... I even ate meat lasagna Jajajaja  even as I'm writing it I'm smiling by re living that sensation that I had. I was genuinely happy and appreciative of small things. The interesting thing is that I ate the lasagna, I am so strict and I am sure that the fact that lunch was meat lasagna would have ruined the whole experience for me before but I looked at it and said to myself "fuck it... I'm eating meat lasagna today" (excuse my french!!!) Jajajaja that is so not Andrea... I like this Andrea!!!

So what was the big deal with lunch? First of all, I was hungry and hung over Jajajaja No, seriously just the scenery and feeling that you are in a place that is special made this very emotional for me. And by emotional I mean happy... I think I said thank you to Ernest like 20 times!

The lunch was actually hilarious we all took off our shoes but Pedro. And water would rise all the way to where we were and it was hilarious! I would scream "agua, agua" and he would lift his feet up! I don't know... So many little things made this a spectacular time!

After lunch we went and had fun going up and down the dunes... I found it amazing that we did not get stuck... Ernest knows what he is doing! It was so much fun that by the end we lost the front brakes... Exciting, right?!? Jajajaja

Somehow by 3-4 pm I was still like the energizer bunny! And I said I wanted to go Quad riding! I was planning to go on the day next but the weather in Swakopmund that day was very windy in the morning and Ernest advised me to go then and that he would take me there... I didn't need all that much convincing so I said let's do it and asked one of the guys in the tour to come with me... He didn't need much convincing either! Jajajaja so off we went...

OMG... Super cool!
At the beginning of course I was super scared... What if I fall? What if I die? What if I'm too slow? Why do you come up with ideas that u r not comfortable with?!?  Jajajaja and then I said "because in life u need to take risks Andrea!!!!!! Go outside your comfort level, challenge yourself the same way you ask your clients to do it!" And then decided to enjoy the ride, the sand dunes, to absorb it all, I LET GO... And it was soooo good!!!

After a good shower I went out to dinner at The Tug. Oh my! Food was amazing!!! The oysters were super fresh, my Cajun sole was deliciously spicy, the company was perfect, and the wine was just a little too much! Jajajajaja but hey! You only live once ;-)
